YAY! Talking about NOT leveling books for libraries. The leveling itself can assist Ts in choosing books BUT we do not use those in our classroom libraries. Leveling is not a pure science & leveling books ignores choice & shames kids #TheEdCollabGathering #5 #G2Great
Levels are not a kid’s label. Levels are a teachers tool. Caution about leveling nonfiction—software leveling programs include the text only, not the features-graphs, illustrations, photos etc. These entry points make the text far more accessible. They support kids to get info.

Today we found out my 5 year old’s poem is going to be published in Urban Voices. It has been a turbulent but inspiring week fighting for public education. A blessing to be reminded by my kid and her amazing teachers what it really is all about....love, community, belonging.
