It's been a productive week for the Sqn, operating out of @RAF_Leeming on one of two concurrent exercises. We even had time to appreciate the sunset at Catterick last night!

Thank you to all the locals who looked after our crew after an unscheduled landing in the Lake District this afternoon. The aircraft has now been recovered safely after our engineers were flown in to fix the fault in the field.

It was a pleasure to host our affiliated charities, cities and organisations during our annual Affiliate's Visit Day. We've made a lot of progress since the last time they were here including completing our medical complex #RoyalNavy

The Sqn is honoured to have an affiliation with @HMSPWLS and we look forward to embarking on her one day. Thank you for the excellent visit yesterday for two of our personnel - here is the Boss scoping future career options...! #boatclub

Our first crews are now nicely settled in, and we're proud to be playing a part of Op NEWCOMBE. Most of our Squadron will deploy to Mali at some point this year.

Huge congratulations to one of our pilots for winning the @RoyalAirForce Resilience Games at @RAF_Cosford this week. Fitness is a big part of being in the military, and Toogs showed he has excellent all-round fitness, beating an impressive field. #NoOrdinaryJob #CrossFit

A commemorative plaque was unveiled in Southampton today during a ceremony to honour Wg Cdr Nicholson VC, DFC, who commanded 27 Sqn during WW2. The only pilot in Fighter Command to be awarded a VC, he was just 23 when he took down an enemy plane, despite having already been shot.

Amazing work by our engineers today. Changing a rotor blade is not an easy task at the best of times, but to do it outdoors at a small Scottish airfield really is impressive. The aircraft can now continue with #JointWarrior tasking tomorrow. Well done guys!

It was a successful first day on #JointWarrior for the Sqn, flying as the Rescue Mission Commander for a JPR mission. Flying the length of the country, the crews worked with other rotary and fixed wing aircraft including F35, Typhoon, RJ and Apache. #NoOrdinaryJob

It's going to be a busy couple of weeks with Ex JOINT WARRIOR kicking off today. The Sqn contribution has now deployed and will fly a variety of missions throughout the Ex. We'll hopefully get some images in the coming days for you all.

This is a message from King George V dated 1 April 1918.

Happy birthday us! Whilst it may not have been as big the 100th last year, it's still been a notable day, with lots going on for the Sqn; 2 operations, 1 exercise and general flying too.

Tonight sees the first deployment of 27 Sqn aircrew to Op NEWCOMBE in Mali, as we prepare to take over the @RoyalAirForce Chinook commitment from 18(B) Sqn in the coming days. Our engineers are already in theatre and ready to get cracking. Have a safe and successful deployment!

Two of our personnel attended Southampton University Air Squadron last night to deliver a presentation on the Chinook Force and the work of @RAF_Odiham. Hopefully some of the audience will now be inspired to pursue a rotary career.

Our visit concluded today with 1e RHC, @armeedeterre visiting the Tiger and NH90 squadrons who will operate alongside us this summer on Op NEWCOMBE. It's been a very useful visit for all involved, and we've learnt a lot ahead of our deployment.
