I am currently working in Part 2, which will cover modern iterations, particularly focusing on what makes them CT and what does not. For starters, if oppression/oppressed is the basis for calling folks CT, then why not call them followers of E Burke, JS Mills, or J Locke instead?
great overview and can I just remark that I can't get over how goofy (and toothy) Klee's angel is and how on earth Benjamin saw in it anything like the "angel of history" I will never understand, truly one of life's great mysteries
Random thought upon reading this:
The book of Ecclesiastes was written nearly three millennia ago now, wonder if any from these “schools” had bothered to read it. I suppose so, but doubt that they were satisfied with the ending.
Many of the core were Jewish and somw did appeal to the Scripture, but not as authority, but more as important human reflections. Probably something in Banjamin and/or Bloch. Good thought! I'm interested now as well.
