Nobody expects their first-round pick to be a bust. But it’s going to happen to someone. Probably more than one. Here’s what that might look like for the top-15 players in ADP this year:

I’m not sure Lester is a Hall of Famer, but if we’re given anyone the “clutch” bump, shouldn’t it be him? He might be the best postseason pitcher ever.

Broadcast is talking about Lester’s HOF chances. Can’t say I’ve ever considered him one watching him pitch. Ever

I’ll say this ... he’s got a better case than Jack Morris did.

He wouldn’t have been able to blow the lead in Game 7 had he not pitched extremely well in games 5 and 6

He pitched with a 7-2 lead in Game 6.

I get the idea of, “if you win a championship, every move that year was justified.” But if we’re using that, then no Cubs fan can ever complain about Jason Heyward’s contract.

They won the WS. It doesn’t matter. I bet the Indians would go back and trade any prospect to win in 2016. Cubs don’t win without Chapman.

I mean ... he literally blew a lead in Game 7. On a home run by Rajai Davis.

And also, they didn’t give up a hugely valuable asset for someone coming off a suspension for something heinous when they traded for Quintana.

I'd think the Q trade looks much, much worse at this point

My thing on that is: Quintana was a long-term move. Chapman threw like 40 innings, and was always going to throw that many innings.

As a reds fan, I thought after 2016 they were a budding dynasty. Great young talent on mlb roster, great farm system, Theo, plus tons of money...amazing how quickly it has seemingly fallen apart.

Fittingly, the Chapman trade looms large. And hey, they got a title, but ... it could be this generation’s version of Adrian Gonzalez for Ugueth Urbina.

To make a cross-sport analogy, this Cubs team is a lot like the Falcons of recent years. Enough high level talent where they can absolutely contend. But if just a few things go wrong, it can really unravel quickly. They’re so shallow.

Define “ugly real quick?” Like, last place? Too much top of the roster talent for that IMO. Hard to imagine they don’t contend for the central.

Well ... the division is gonna be close, and if Baez regresses and Bryant and Contreras aren’t a lot better, yeah I could see last place. Pitching staff could be a nightmare, too.

But hey at least they still have Addison Russell.

The Cubs are just throwing Albert Almora, Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist (Good last year, yes, but 38 soon) our there with no safety net. With that bullpen and a bunch of old rickety starters. It could get ugly for that team real quick.

One thing I had not realized before today: The Cubs bench is baaaaaad.

Feel bold enough to give us a player comparable for almora? I haven’t heard any talk about him this spring. Could he be Adam Eaton range?

Somewhere between the good Avisail Garcia and every other Avisail Garcia season.

Sorry, you can’t tell me Daniel Descalso gives your team a better chance to win than Ian Happ. And I say that as an Ian Happ skeptic.

I’m weirdly optimistic about Almora (swing change confirmation bias!), but I don’t think it makes much sense to send Happ down, given how little the Cubs did to actually improve their team

Like, imagine Morant with Doncic and Kristaps.

This a three-point line or coaching thing?

Three-point line thing and lack of talent thing. Not a lot of guys who can consistently hit from NBA level, let alone from the Rockets’ depth.
