That moment Trump went on about what might happen next: "We will have a national emergency. And we will then be sued... And we will possibly get a bad ruling. And then we will get another bad ruling. And then we will end up in the Supreme Court."
The sing-song cadence here has me really worried about him. I'm not being snarky, I'm not trying to score points, I'm not being partisan. Like, all jokes aside, by the end of this thing I am more worried about the emotional stability of the President than at any time before this.
After telling the crowd how he is likely to be sued and lose over the national emergency, Trump tells his new attorney general to stand up. "He's got the easiest job in politics," Trump says, joking.
If he knows he is going to lose, then he knows he is violating the Constitution and laws he has sworn to uphold.
Ted Cruz: "It's incumbent on Republicans in Congress to use every single tool we have to defend the rule of law, to rein in the president, so that the president does not become an unaccountable monarch imposing his policies...."
Shameless. Just shameless.
Leaders in Russia, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia must consider it a never-ending gift to have a US president inventing phony crises at home instead of strategizing responses required to overcome threats currently emanating from US competitors abroad.
The @marcorubio Made in China Report will be weekend reading. Thanks to the senator for his work on this critical subject as well as his willingness to question certain rigid 20th Century ideologies. Thanks as well to @nytdavidbrooks for highlighting the report in his oped
“Evaluating the “Made in China 2025” plan should contribute to the American economic policy framework in two main ways: (1) assessing the plan’s goals can identify areas for defensive action. (2) comparing China’s success to US relative decline identifies areas for reform.”
“The Made in China 2025 industrial plan targets 10 high-value industrial sectors for global dominance, demonstrates that the Chinese government is doing more than merely “breaking the rules,” it is setting new terms for international economic competition.” https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/_cache/files/d1c6db46-1a68-481a-b96e-356c8100f1b7/3EDECA923DB439A8E884C6229A4C6003.02.12.19-final-sbc-project-mic2025-report.pdf …
“If China is an existential threat to the liberal international order, do we have the capacity to improve our system so it can face the challenge — to invest in human capital, to reform our institutions, repair the social fabric and make our political system function once again?”
“We used to think China would democratize. Wrong. We used to think the regime would liberalize. Wrong. We used to think the Chinese people would rise up and join the free democratic world. Wrong.”
“The annual loss to the U.S. economy from Chinese intellectual property theft was between $225 billion and $600 billion.”
Trump's sing-songy recounting of the legal process is remarkable.
That was amazing. You know what else is amazing, Jonathan? The Red Sox’ slow start in Spring Training. We look like a 5th place team and that is the real national emergency. #bostonsportsradio

No problem. Thanks for clarification.
Our show is early in the morning, I don’t talk from scripts, I cover a lot of ground over 3 hours, but I’m pretty sure the words attributed to me here are not mine. https://thehill.com/homenews/media/430159-scarborough-rips-ocasio-cortezs-amazon-response-she-needs-to-learn-basic …
I tried to check the video but it’s been removed. Hey @thehill, I’d check this out. Unless I was sleeping while on air this morning, these are not my comments you attributed to me.

"I didn't need to do this," Trump says of the national emergency. So is it an emergency?
This quote should be the first sentence of the first paragraph of every complaint filed this afternoon.
Aurora Shooting: Multiple People Wounded in Illinois via @NYTimes

There is a financial literacy epidemic in America. Quick lesson: NYC wasn’t handing cash to Amazon. It was an incentive program based on job creation, producing tax revenue. There isn’t a $3 billion pile of money that can now be spent on subways or education.
The President is poised to engage in a serious abuse of power, and the Republicans are going to say “atta boy” - and yet there are still those who wonder why I argued for voting against Republicans down the line as a spineless party that needed to be deprived of power.
