Mokume-gane Experimentations! Laminated non ferrous metals. 1 - Copper & Brass, canister welded. The result reminiscent of Ham & Cheese! 2- Using layers of coins & copper, ok results of this uneducated attempt.. I’ll keep practicing! Keep experimenting and learning new skills!
International Women’s Day! In honour I attended the “Inspire2Learn Centre” to take part in their “Inspiring Girls Day”. Volunteer speakers were women in IT (Coding and Game Design), Cake Makers, Architects, Engineers, University Ambassadors & much more! Inspiring day! @Inspire2L

Turns out my series ‘Made in Great Britain’ is on 7pm @BBCTwo every night this week. Each ep looks at how different products+crafts shaped towns/cities...Northampton shoes, Luton hats, Wensleydale cheese, York chocolate, Sheffield steel + Stoke Pottery. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bpz2qb/broadcasts/upcoming …
“Made in Great Britain” Repeated this week on BBC2!
Tentacles and Hares?! My latest batch of stock for the “Silver Street Gallery” in Whitby. Now available for the lucky few that have reserved them. If you would like to see my work in person, or would like to order one of your own, pop in to Gallery or get in touch. #Whitby
Making the Tentacle Bottle Openers Bottle openers are a firm, favourite little make for many Blacksmiths. Here’s my nautical take on a classic home accessory! - Punch and stretch open the end, shape and form over the Bick of the Anvil then create a little tab on the inside.
Hanging Bats Big batch of little Bats.. With tiny ears, nose, fangs and curled toes to hang them from! This bunch is for “Celtic Inspirations” of Whitby, and will be available from Sunday. Each one is hand made from start to finish, making every one unique. Create a Colony!
Duck Curtain Poles and a Derby Ram Door Knocker! - The two curtain poles feature little mallard ducks, hand forged brackets and curtain rings. - The door knocker is for a “Derby Rams” fan, and will be galvanised and painted. Hand made bye @KvBlacksmith #homeaccessories
Replying to @clairedeluneart
Thanks for sharing, Claire. Great series, but particularly enjoyed the one on pottery making. Really hope we can use this to promote the importance of creativity and craft making skills, and inspire young people to fall back in love with our rich industrial making heritage.
Some favourite pieces I made in 2018. Big or small, I couldn’t have had more fun making them! The best part was seeing the joy they brought to others, ether just for a moment or for a lifetime. To 2019! Wishing everyone happiness & health. X Katie Ventress Artist Blacksmith #art
Happy New Year! I won’t go soppy and reflect on the good & bad.. But will share some scenes from the wonderful experience I had on “Made In Great Britain” on BBC2. To memories made and the phenomenal people I met! @clairedeluneart @charltonnicoll @jsyleatherworks @KvBlacksmith
Rose Stone Roller The customer had an old Stone Roller and wanted something sculptural & unique. Hand Forged Roses entwine to create a new handle, complete with Thorn forms and detailed Leaves (a wooden handle will be added on the top). A new lease of life! @KvBlacksmith #Rose
Door Canopy The customer wanted a Zinc Roof with a simple but elegant design, mirroring the gate I made many years ago. I am quite happy with the contrast I achieve between the lighter galvanised frame & darker zinc roof (which almost looks like lead). @KvBlacksmith #blacksmith
Made in Great Britain Tonight at 9 - BBC2 Shoes in Northampton! I have a deep respect for shoe makers of the past and the bespoke makers of today. This craft was far from easy, but achieved exceptionally beautiful products! Still available on Catchup! @TrickersShoes #Shoes
Made in Great Britain Tonight at 9 - BBC2 Episode 5 - Cheese! Starting back in the Monastic Era, Wensleydale cheese began... but not as we know it. My favourite location for filming. There aren’t many foods I love more than cheese! #MadeinGB @KvBlacksmith @Wdalecreamery
Simple Door Canopy Feature scrolled leaves and tendrils, a Zinc roof will be attached after it has been galvanised. The design is taken from a very simple gate I designed and made in my first year of Blacksmithing, for my mother, and this piece is also for her. @KvBlacksmith
