These statistics, while outrageous, are not surprising. This government, far from tackling this crisis, refuses to accept that the crisis even exists. Well there are 557 people on trolleys in hospitals across the country who would disagree with them. http://liadhniriada.ie/hospital-overcrowding-a-damning-indictment-ni-riada/ …
I recently met with UNESCO to make the case for the Gearagh being granted World Heritage Site Status. This is only the start of a long process but it is a positive start. I will now be seeking to meet with all stakeholders to rally support for the campaign http://liadhniriada.ie/gearagh-deserves-world-heritage-status-ni-riada/ …
Remembering #StPatricksDay of yore- my Mum making the stew the night before, buying shamrock in O'Hara's & laying out the safety pin & tin foil in preparation, @LiadhNiRiadaMEP dad's music providing the soundscape.
I was just remembering picking shamrock myself and always know when see the tinfoil it's a sure sign of home picked. Bain taitneamh as an stew!
Paráid iontach in he Rebel City. Slua mór and such brilliant diversity.
The government and the EU need to listen to the voices of these young people. Just 100 companies are responsible for more than 70% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. Change is possible and they hold the key. #ClimateStrike #FridaysForFuture #schoolstrike4climate
Absolutely bursting with pride at the young people of Cork following their incredible climate change protest. Maith sibh go léir to the organisers & all who took to the streets. The energy & enthusiasm of all involved was positively invigorating #FridaysForFuture #ClimateStrike
Horrendous news coming out of Christchurch in New Zealand, a city still coming to terms with the tremendous loss it suffered in 2011. I have no doubt they will once again rally together and won't let hate divide them.
I have no doubt that after 47 years of campaigning for justice, the families of those killed on Bloody Sunday, and indeed at Ballymurphy and Springhill and everywhere else the British Army wreaked death and destruction, will not let this deter them. http://liadhniriada.ie/dignity-of-bloody-sunday-families-inspiring-ni-riada/ …
Similar to the recent debate in the parliament at Westminster. So that's 751 - 28 = 723 MEPs who should be accounting for themselves. Some of them must have good reasons, but not all. Great picture from.... https://euobserver.com/environment/144395 … #ClimateStrike
Delighted that Lynn Boylan attended on behalf of SinnFéin. I spoke in Budget debate on lack of EU funding for climate action so team SFéin tackling on all fronts!
Please join us today @UCCSF
Profoundly moving to see the dignity & courage of the #BloodySunday families despite being dealt yet another blow. Their quiet strength & determination should serve as inspiration to those seeking justice around the world.Conversely the comments of the British MOD are disgraceful
In Strasbourg @EPP MEPS refusing to stand in support of protest against the remarks of Antonio Tajani re Mussolini. The President of the Parliament. @FineGael is part of this group. When will they be asked questions about this and the Orbán issue by MSM??
I am in denial that mo chara may be leaving the EP. It's too much to bear thinking her support her decency and friendship won't be just next door....especially in Strasbourg. Will have to make the most of it Anderson!!
Honestly different pic..fós in the chamber about to speak on budget 2020. Lip service to climate action. Money for security and defence & screw the poor! Plus cà changè!
In the parliament in debate on a the establishment European Monitory Fund. Why would we be expected to pay into a fund to protect the banks that don't pay a red cent in tax on their massive profits, even after we bailed them out.
Aaah speaking in the chamber shortly on the EMF which is now the ESM..Still means bailing out the banks whatever you call it!
Going to be on France 24 with @ACatInParis, debating the future of the Erasmus programme. Pleasure to meet Laura Coudret Haut, director of the Erasmus agency and Patrick Kress, a student in hotel and catering and who had a great time in Ireland!
If we want to leave a habitable planet for our children and grand children and all future generations then we need action. So I would urge everyone to get out there on Friday, raise your voice and play your part in quite literally, saving the planet. http://liadhniriada.ie/demand-action-on-climate-change-this-friday-ni-riada/ …
