1. I'd like to add my thoughts to the conversation about David McCullough's problematic new book "The Pioneers." McCullough's book is centered on the town of Marietta, OH, and for 4 years I lived and worked in Marietta as a professor of early American history at Marietta College.
#DnD Take: Monks should be rebranded to "Martial Artist" to remove the Orientalism aspects, and the ascetic aspects should be shunted to a subclass to reflect the dedication involved in that lifepath. Make them a dedicated melee combatant, high HP, low AC, high damage.

Am I the only one who thinks it's disconcerting that #GOT has, as a major subplot over the last couple weeks, a bunch of men standing around worrying about whether their female leader is too emotional and maybe they should supplant her with *gasp of surprise* a man? Bueller?
