The reporter behind today’s story on undocumented workers at a Trump golf club in New Jersey is @mirjordan. She covers immigration for The New York Times. This is just one of the many powerful stories she has brought to light.
Last week, Miriam was in Tijuana, where a downpour created streams of mud and misery for thousands of Central American migrants waiting for a chance to enter the United States
In November, she shared the story of a Guatemalan mother who fled an abusive husband with her American daughter — and who could now lose her daughter permanently, thanks to U.S. child protection laws https://nyti.ms/2Ehv1vW
In October, she introduced readers to Fernanda, who had recently been at the counsel table in federal immigration court in New York. A judge was ruling on her deportation case. She's 2.
In September, she followed 2 Guatemalan children who were separated from their mother at the U.S. border. After nearly 2 months apart, they were reunited and started to build a new life together, in Oregon.
Over the summer, she told the heartbreaking story of José, a 5-year-old boy from Honduras who had been separated from his father at the border. For his first several nights with a foster family in Michigan, José cried himself to sleep.
And the story of a Tennessee town where dozens of American-born children were left without one of their parents after one of the biggest workplace immigration raids of the Trump era
In April, she wrote about the thousands of Indian women who could lose their jobs in the U.S. if Trump scrapped work permits for H-1B spouses
The list goes on and on. You can follow Miriam @mirjordan and find more examples of her work here:
A powerful story thanks for posting
I don’t think anyone is in a rush to hurt trump. He seems to be doing a pretty good job on his own every time the sun comes up
She needs to do one in his Jupiter, , Mar a Lago, Doral, and the one by where he parks Air Force One in West Palm Beach. All these properties hire very few locals because they are assholes to work for and they can abuse immigrants..
Thank you for doing such great work 👏👏👏
There are 7.7 billion people in the world. Instead of showing more pictures of children, and your constant bashing of Trump, why don't you acknowledge the legitimate points on both sides of this issue, and then try to come up with solutions.
I'm connecting dots this evening: biggest budget deficits in history coming at us, and the boss is a guy who pays to have his boxers and towels ironed.
Please explain how this is on Trump when he has 1000’s of employees and personnel matters are not done directly by him....🤔
It's called the buck stops here. He hires the people who hire the people who hire the people. Same as ifbone of my staff messes up, itsvon my law license. Besides, the boss sets the tone.
Regardless - Employers do not know and especially the "Owners" or upper level management - if you hire an "Illegal" alien - E Verify can by bypassed with false information - No harm, no foul - all this story really proves is that Trump or his team appreciates a job well done.
He’s above the law.
