Couldn’t agree more with GMB's @Tim_Roache re: Govt awarding Amazon public sector contracts- “Amazon are taking us for mugs. They must quite literally be laughing all the way to the bank- they’re making profit from a govt that they refuse to pay their fair share of taxes to.”

Quite obvious why the Tories were happy to hand over the cost of free TV licenses for people 75+ to the BBC back in 2015. Now a lot of people will suffer when that’s their only lifeline for companionship and news.

You knew this was going to end in tears! The probation service is being brought back in-house because of the total incompetency of Chris Grayling and the utter dogmatic belief that everything has to be privatised. Another Tory disaster with £500m. of public money wasted.

Why is the public purse coughing up £200 million to private landlords to replace cladding on privately-owned high-rises when the government won’t pay the full cost of council properties being recladded? It’s not acceptable to have the tax payer foot the bill for private blocks.

Changing face of Japan and the passing of an era as Emperor Akihito – the son of the post-war emperor and the symbolic leader of his country – has begun rituals to hand the throne over to his son, Prince Naruhito. The start of a new generation.

Must say, the Government is on the right side on this one. Fracking is not needed in this country & more to the point, the consequences to people living in areas with fracking have never been fully explored. We must continue to fight for the environment.

Horrified by today’s coordinated and deadly attacks in Sri Lanka. An appalling wave of violence on Easter Sunday, a day celebrating love. There’s no place for such cowardly terror and violence.

Tragic what’s unfolding in Paris at Notre Dame Cathedral. An iconic, gothic structure that has survived centuries and World Wars. What a deep cultural and historical loss.

Met with the head teacher of @AndertonPark today regarding the protests outside the school. Had a useful and productive meeting.

At last we know officially that the 21 victims of the Birmingham pub bombings were killed by the IRA. A botched warning call cost the police vital minutes. Absolute tragedy that 21 innocent people were killed while many others were severely injured.

Sad and surprising that the jury could not reach a decision in the prosecution of David Duckenfield over his part in the Hillsborough disaster but pleased that the CPS is seeking a retrial.

HS2 costs just rise and rise and rise... Latest projection for all 4 phases is now £106+ billion. For this sort of money we could do some really good- and much needed- transport infrastructure throughout Birmingham and the country.
