What if the sole benefit of providing music education was simply for the sake of making our students more musical? http://blogs.socsd.org/superintendent/2017/06/09/music-f … #edchat #KidsDeserveIt #education #k12
I was challenged by @JGevargisMizi to post covers of 7 books I love without explanations/reviews. I love all of the published works by John Steinbeck and can't narrow this challenge down to 7. This should cover me for the week.
#Millennials have a high degree of abilities and positive traits that many of us non millennials have yet to understand. Academic defends millennials by comparing them to students in the 1800s
Friday 2/15/19 was the best Rockland Read In! Our Mystery Readers Ms. Incognoli & @SOCSD_Supt Dr. Pritchard read us some faves! We taught Dr. Pritchard how to star breathe when feeling sad or nervous. We enjoyed bagels with our books thanks to our class ambassadors! 🥯📚@WOSnews

"Great leaders stand apart from their peers," noted @SOCSD_Supt at tonight's BOE meeting, as he and Board President Rosemary Pitruzzella recognized the @SOMS_News 2018-19 @nyjets #Upstanders and @Tappan_Zee_HS' Olivia Steger, an #NCWITAiC19 National Award Honorable Mention.
No better time to be alive! These young leaders inspire me and fill me with hope!!

I am looking forward to learning more from the community about how we can best continue our journey together as a community of #learners. #edtech #futureready #rethink_learning . My blog at http://blogs.socsd.org/superintendent/2019/01/04/happy-new-year-2019/ …

HUGE thanks to our generous food sponsor @TWKCM for donating delicious pizza and stromboli for today's full-day work session! We're just days out from the February 19 Stop Build and this support is fueling us through the long final hours!
So proud of our newest @lohudsports Rockland Scholar-Athlete: @TappanZeeXCTF's Alexandra Thomas! "I just kind of fell in love with it when I was in modified. I realized if I worked hard things could pay off and things started to go well.” @TZeeAthletics
Some believe when we give #students second chances for things like missed work, not being prepared, or not arriving on time, we are enabling them. I’d argue that we are showing them compassion, #kindness & understanding are quite acceptable responses in #life.
Here’s another important distinction between schooling and learning. As a young boy, I was easily distracted and loved to learn. My mom always said that I’d turn out ok if I just had a good secretary when I grew up. It all worked out.
We believe that teaching our students to be #empathetic will contribute to each student’s ability to be productive in a social setting and be an essential step towards a peaceful society. My blog at http://blogs.socsd.org/superintendent/2018/12/19/holidays-and-empathy/ …
Specifically, I came to the realization that the students were exploring topics that were not bounded by time, space, and the dimensions of the known universe – just because something can’t be seen or measured doesn’t mean that it can’t be studied. The research is clear. If we want smart, healthy, well-rounded children it pays to invest in recess.
