When a 40+ year old is attending a #Youth Leaders Programme for #Pacific Island Countries ... you have to wonder WHY - when there are so many able and qualified youth leaders within the age bracket of youth. Come on #Tonga and #Pacific! We are much than this!

We are still fighting to be granted the right to build a lasting building for our activities and the community, but we don't give up. And we have much and more planned for the weeks and months, and even years to come! No cyclone can stop us, for we are dedicated and passionate🔥

One year ago, Cyclone Gita was stealing our studio.
A lot has happened during the year, and a lot of it was better than good: it was mind-blowing. So much love!
Today, we still have the spirit strong.

One of Tēvita Lātū’s most recent artworks.
Yes, there is talent in the South Pacific islands, and yes, it can be quite ground-breaking!

Our founder is an inspiration, not only for his artwork, but also for his dedication to “giving back to #Tonga” and the community

#Tonga 🇹🇴 is cut off the internet for the time being, and international calls are a bit tricky -text messages won go through. No civil war in sight though (lol) and school starts again on Monday so if you have relatives in the kingdom, don’t worry: all is normal.

You know you’ve done something right when amazing photographer @PsTyrell gives you a shout out in his IG story 🙏
I love seeing ‘Masculine me tender’ & Filipe Tohi’s ‘Veimaka’ in one image. Two very powerful works by Polynesian artists who challenge expectations in their own way.

This is what Selekarians get up to when they are given a voice in high places: get motions passed to amend the Constitution and set up a youth committee as part of the social standing committee in Parliament. ✊🏽
