Hey #TeamEnglish, check out our new video #resource! @KatieMcGettigan talks about the significance and specificity of time in The Great Gatsby. Some great ideas here about close reading and context. https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/research-and-teaching/departments-and-schools/english/about-us/teacherhub/teaching-resources/the-great-gatsby/ … #KS5 #TheGreatGatsby

A really great idea. Our annual TeacherHub Forum is quite similar and we do all the organisation so you don't have to! The event consists of a lecture from one of our specialists, break out groups, roundtable discussion on AOs and nibbles - all for free! https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/research-and-teaching/departments-and-schools/english/about-us/teacherhub/teacherhub-forum/ …

Can I compliment m’colleague @BobEaglestone on his fine book on why literature matters. Half way through in one sitting and I think it’s brilliant. Everyone should read it. Puts the soul back into reading.

In a new EMC blog @BarbaraBleiman opens up the debate on 'cultural capital' raising questions about what we mean by it and arguing that it's a highly complex idea being applied much too simply in discussions about the curriculum. https://www.englishandmedia.co.uk/blog/whose-cultural-capital …

Such a great morning talking about #GeorgeEliot #born1819. Here’s a thread with more info (cos footnotes don’t work on radio & we all stand on each other’s shoulders). My project is funded by @ahrcpress & works with partners @GeorgeEliotLove & @writingwestmids
