Fiery, pitch perfect speech by Bill Shorten on top form and on top of his subject.
Theresa May’s Brexit plan seems to be a contest of who’ll blink first - her or the whopping great train hurtling towards her at 100mph. Trains don’t blink.

“Hardline EU Awkward Squad” is an absolutely superb band name.
The beast is stirring ... journalists are starting to question the reason for being ...are they there to relay the facts and question the decision makers of are they merely icing for the cake makers . Democracy depends on scrutiny , transparency and truth .

Procurement. My @Smh @theage cartoon.
The AG says he will not release the legal advice in its entirety which he says uncovers a drafting error in the medivac bill. Perhaps he could give it to Tony Smith and he can help out #auspol
#HelloWorld #HelloIntegrityCommission Government today voted against a motion asking @ScottMorrisonMP to investigate this and report back to Parliament We need a National Integrity Commission to restore faith in politics & democratic institutions

Presumably once the asylum seeker gets to Xmas I for their “medical treatment” they are beyond the reach of the “Medevac Act”. A cruel, inhumane and cynical ploy by @ScottMorrisonMP and @PeterDutton_MP to circumvent Parliament’s will. Time for a vote of no confidence.
Aided by Labor's capitulation on the issue. Just on cost grounds alone the ALP could mount an argument against this - but they won't because....you know...scared
Government is gearing up for a repeat of substandard facilities, poor care and a public spectacle of cruelty on CI. The symbolism of punishment of the dispossessed is an obscene political tool wielded by those with no morals and those too weak to resist them. Shame.
Like many Australians, this morning I have conducted an extensive audit of my financial records to check if a kindly benefactor paid for my family holidays last year. Sadly I must report that no such benefactor has been found. https://amp.smh.com.au/politics/federal/cormann-had-no-idea-a-travel-company-had-given-him-a-free-trip-20190218-p50ym5.html?__twitter_impression=true …
I put it to you that a person who is finance minister should be able to keep track of their own credit card.
In 2016, Mr Morrison spoke of the "taxed" & "taxed not". He said "taxed not" was "a generation of Australians expecting payments from the Government as an expected component of their income". Every person receiving a franking credit refund is a "taxed not"

Well said @JaneCaro Well said!! We’ve gone from the “lucky country” to the “greedy, hateful and bigoted” country and any compassion is called “leftist” Enough of the scare mongering We need a huge shift back to left to return to what being Australian means!!!

I just found Gerard Henderson dumped on a footpath for council collection. This is understandable but unkind. I’m taking him home for a cup of tea

the #medevac bill was a great display of pragmatic politics by labor, greens and independents — nobody got everything they wanted, everyone lost a little skin, but a humanitarian outcome was achieved.
It’s so deeply disturbing to watch @PeterDutton_MP who is the Minister for Home Affairs do a thread on the #MedeVacBill that is filled with lies, distortions and half - truths. You’re an elected officer of the people and are meant to serve us not mislead us. Seriously not ok.
