My contribution with @CliveCHamilton to the latest issue of @ChinaBriefJT. Hopefully it will ignite the much needed debate on Australia-China relations that both major political parties are trying to avoid leading to the election #auspoI

For anyone looking to join the march to the Liaison Office tonight, or the march on June 9th, here's a curated list of precautions I trot out every year. Sandals are cool & comfortable, but provide no protection whatsoever for your feet from the sun. They’re hard to run in too.

Dress code for protesters. Learn it from one of the best equipped protesters in the recent #antiELABhk protests.

V short anecdotal thread about the clampdown on mainland Wechat comments on HK anti-extradition protests. Hearing reports of extraordinarily punitive measures taken for mainlanders making comments indicating support for marchers ie "Go, Hong Kongers! "加油香港人“

Again @SBSNews more evidence of how WeChat is being censored by the CCP and used to intimidate and coerce cc Lin Evlin ( im still blocked)@JesWashington @Katmyu

Recent events suggest that the Hong Kong government is, in fact, at the highest levels, wholly beholden to Beijing. https://warontherocks.com/2019/06/another-worry-in-hong-kong-the-growing-partisanship-of-the-civil-service/ …

Thank you, Bin Lin, for coming forward to explain to other fellow Australians how HK's proposed extradition law may affect us. Like me, Dr Lin is one of the signatories to a joint letter in support of Australia's Foreign Interference Legislation.
