Suicides are rapidly rising across #Venezuela, but particularly in the mountainous state of Merida, where they are hitting levels never seen.

In Venezuela's Backyard, Here's a U.S. Invasion That Ended Well
As Trump prepares for a Florida speech on Monday in which he is reportedly preparing to use #Venezuela to talk about “the dangers of socialism” for domestic politics, @QuicoToro of @CaracasChron’s piece is a must-read.
U.S. Weighs New PDVSA Sanctions as Next Step Against Maduro
Richard Branson is planning a concert on Venezuela's border to pressure Maduro to let in humanitarian aid
Three weeks into the push to oust Maduro and only 3 top military men have publicly broken ranks -- and they're all suits. The US and #Venezuela's neighbors have backed Guaido, but privately officials say they assumed there was a more developed plan.
Guaido’s revolution isn’t moving as quickly as some had hoped. This has led to impatience and finger-pointing. U.S. policy makers, #Venezuela’s opposition -- as well as leaders in Brazil and Colombia -- are eyeing one another and worrying about failure.

(Mas insultos e intolerancia en el nombre de democracia?) Te pregunto. Quien controla la instituciones del estado, la compañía estatal de petróleo y las fuerzas armadas? Q unas figuras van saliendo no es un quiebre. Y no importa quienes representan. El punto es q tienen el poder

Is Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro doomed? That's exactly what they said about Syria's Bashar al-Assad half a decade ago
They’re out. Thanks to all for the help and concern.
What's almost as damning of an image as barricading a bridge to block humanitarian aid from entering a hungry country? How about having the lights go out (twice) when you're explaining to foreign media that you've got #Venezuela's crisis under control.
So how are public relations going @NicolasMaduro in the face of a spiraling crisis? The lights appear to have gone out at press conference at the presidential palace in downtown Caracas when he filled it with foreign and local media.
So much for going back to the negotiating table. Nicolas Maduro tells reporters he `doesn't think' he'd be willing to hold early presidential elections as means to resolve #Venezuela's crisis.
So essentially... Eleventh hour dialogue attempt fails, #EU and #URU urge to "restore democracy" in #Caracas, #MEX, #BOL and #CARICOM disagree. No real change to situation in #Venezuela #ThisIsVzla https://twitter.com/madeleintlSUR/status/1093593874990272512 …
Not quite. Mexico and Caricom didn’t sign it because they aren’t part of the International Contact Group. Bolivia didn’t sign, but they don’t block the resolution, either. A technical team is now being sent to #Venezuela.
Videos on state TV showed Garcia Palomo, a fugitive Col. who was captured last month in #Venezuela, confessing ties to the CIA and Colombian officials. His lawyer tells me he was tortured and drugged.
