Why Akhil Katyal @akhilkatyal is a Poet For Our Times

His second book, "How Many Countries Does the Indus Cross" seeks to document the turbulent history of South Asia through verse, writes @arushithapar_

I write about @akhilkatyal and his new book for @nc24x7 "Katyal’s book transports you from the streets of Delhi to Kashmir and Palestine all in two pages. He is unafraid to use language to his advantage in critiquing the current regime."

What is Arnab Goswami doing

On Hindu Sultans, Maratha Padshahs, and the influence of Arabic and Persian on the Marathi language which has left us surnames like Fadnavis and Parasnis, and given names like Sahebrao and Shahaji (the name of Shivaji's father).

Major DP Singh (@MajDPSingh) has written a long post on the incident at the TV channel last night. Those who were asking in the morning, might want to see how a real soldier, a war disabled soldier, views the frenzied newsrooms. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157342534420934&id=559310933 …

Aware there is great anger among all of us Indians and justifiably so but that's exactly what our adversary wants. Decisions taken in anger always blow back. My job-absorb your anger and offer sane options.I would be failing my 40 years experience dealing with this if I do not

The story of how artists found a novel way to spread the word on India’s fight for freedom. #ThursdayThoughts

I interviewed 300 high achievers about their morning routine, and you will never believe, they all have inherited family wealth.

You too can have a successful tweet if you get up early, have a healthy breakfast, believe in yourself, and live off the tarnished legacy of centuries of colonialist oppression.

Point of clarity - the technology of flint knapping is a master craft that takes years to perfect. Many people around the world still use it, and it’s a sophisticated technology showing human ingenuity and adaptability. It’s not ‘primitive’ at all, even if it’s ancient.

A ‘slicer’ made from bottom of a glass bottle. It’s been knapped with flint, as a Stone Age hunter gatherer might do, but it’s from 19th century East London. Similar ones have been found in Caribbean, Oz, East USA. Often associated with sites used by enslaved & aboriginal people

Replying to @alexvtunzelmann @Okwonga @KimAtiWagner

But the logic is similar eg in apologism about the British Empire in India. They “balance” the famines against the railways. So exactly how many miles of railway makes up for, say, a million famine deaths?

The sun sets more than 90 min later in western India than in the east of the country, yet the entire country follows the same time zone. Why this is not a good idea:

I interviewed 300 high achievers about their morning routine, and you will never believe, they all have inherited family wealth.
