👀 So utterly corrupt and brazen. Paxton’s wife introduces a bill to excuse the crime that Paxton is currently charged with committing.
Jim Jordan: Trump declared the border emergency "to fulfill the campaign promise" http://bit.ly/2TTsvjP
Congratulations to molestation-enabler @Jim_Jordan for defending the Constitution's "it's an emergency if the president sucks at negotiating" clause. Now to find a way to make Mexico reimburse us.
Oh. My. God. An Apple IIe. Sat in my parents’ attic for years. Decades. And it works. Put in an old game disk. Asks if I want to restore a saved game. And finds one! It must be 30 years old. I’m 10 years old again.
Norman Ornstein on Trump's emergency declaration: A threat to our fundamental freedoms https://cbsn.ws/2Ix6kyL
A common theme in highbrow conservative punditry is that GOP complacency about Trump’s authoritarianism is okay because he’s too lazy and inept to follow through. Fair enough; but would there really be more pushback to a harder-working demagogue? https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1097116612279316480 …
Another common theme is that college kids are the tip of the spear of a mass progressive silencing of conservatives and that no affront to free speech should be tolerated but also boycotting Israel should be punishable by the government. Do I have that right?
And of course the rot spreads beyond GOP elected officials. While millions of Americans have sacrificed time and money over the last few years to defend democracy from Trump; the CEO class is soaking up the tax cuts and deregulation while huge smiles on their faces.
Exactly this. The CEOs are on to blackmailing Democrats over nominating a progressive, but it's just the latest demonstration that they will torch cherished freedoms if it'll shave a few points off their taxes, and that should never be forgotten.
The Times publishes this on the same day as a Bret Stephens op-ed that shrugs off the scientific consensus on climate as hysteria and not worth doing anything drastic over. Decide for yourself which column is based on research and which is lazy hackwork.
The first paragraph of the story leading the home page of the New York Times at the moment. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/16/us/border-migrants-asylum-mexico-aclu.html …
I was there. The silence was deafening.
Replying to @joshtpm
You can tell it's malice because it proves too much for @hughhewitt's otherwise compassionless ideology. Uninsurance is not like addiction, but is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths a year, yet somehow I doubt Hugh thinks national health care should be beyond politics.
Pufferfish release a toxin when they puff out that is meant to impair the attacker. This doesn’t work on Dolphins in the same way. It gets them high. So they purposely inflate them and pass them around to their dolphin friends for fun. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/dolphins-seem-to-use-toxic-pufferfish-to-get-high-180948219/ …
Internet, replace pufferfish with baseball crank.
As jet lag takes a firm hold over me at 5:30 am I continue to read George Tenet’s biography about his time as CIA director and oh hi Michael Ledeen
Boy, I sure wish Amazon paid more in federal taxes so everything I bought from Amazon would be more expensive.
Don’t ever write about business or taxes again.
Ivanka Trump is the only person in audience who doesn’t applaud after Angela Merkel points out the absurdity of Trump claiming German cars are a national security threat
Why is Ivanka Trump part of the U.S delegation to the Munich Security Conference at all?
Addressing U.S. allies at the Munich Security Conference, Mike Pence is met with silence as he tells the audience: "I bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of America, President Donald Trump."
The silence from our allies says it all.
Not a moment too soon.
As you file your federal tax returns this year, stop to consider that you paid more federal taxes than one of the largest, wealthiest and most profitable companies in the world, and that this is not an accident.
WHEREIN I LOOK UP THE NUMBERS THAT HUGH HEWITT GUESSED. https://twitter.com/hughhewitt/status/1096850542217678848 …
Thread. And a reminder that mainstream outlets lending their platform to Hugh are privileging relentless dishonesty and bad faith.
