I’ve been in consulting for 10 years and am now more certain than ever that the big promises of telepresence will never be realized. When you need big, nasty, complex things to be planned and executed confidently and correctly, you need people in a room together.

Quoted @JustJoshinYou13

GND as it exists is not about climate change. It's a blatant Trojan horse for every other (half-baked) idea on the DSA economic agenda.

This is correct.

Henry is right. There were some very, very funny stories about Peter. https://twitter.com/hankschulman/status/1092619550380548096 …

I met him once, at a postgame Giants party in 1999 at Perry’s on Union. We were well into our cups, and he regaled us with the tale of how they had signed Bonds to the Safeway contract before technically buying the team. His impression of Fay Vincent’s anger was hilarious. RIP.

WoW!!! So the Oakland #Raiders will play in San Francisco while the 49ers play in Santa Clara... at least networks will be able to use shots of SF landmarks during games without it seeming strange. https://twitter.com/rajmathai/status/1092270250203131905 …

Gah this is so weird for so many reasons

“People can’t say they haven’t heard”: How a Lifetime docuseries changed the R. Kelly conversation. https://bit.ly/2SibnGS

It’s like no one watched Boondocks back in the mid-2000s.

Quoted @AOC

Hi @PopChassid - thank you for bringing this to me. We cannot + will not move forward without deep fellowship and leadership with the Jewish community. I’ll have my team reach out. 💜

Credit to @aoc for listening, and to @PopChassid for raising the issue in his typically thoughtful way. Hope this conversation will bear fruit.

The Navy drummers tap their drums and I can’t help but hear “Previously, on The West Wing…”

Popular #SFGiants broadcaster @FlemmingDave promised he wouldn't leave y'all to go big-time national, and he isn't. He and the club have a new four-year deal. The story:

I don't get it. Pressley, AOC, Tlaib, and Omar are all from deep-blue districts. They won essentially uncontested races. Why would they have any influence at all over House Dems from purple, let alone red, districts, or even in moderate blue ones? https://www.thedailybeast.com/progressive-democrats-to-shutdown-negotiators-not-another-dollar-in-dhs-funding …

This. The press is hyperventilating over a few prog House Dems in safe districts making some noise. The double standard is striking. These noisy dems are “taking over the party”. Tea Party nitwits drive a GOP speaker (Boehner) into retirement and they’re being principled.

"The Soak" by @rands from 2006 is the read of the day. How to actually THINK on problems, especially if you have many every day:

Encountered a particularly fierce, but no less ignorant, Trumpist troglodyte on my Facebook feed tonight. Was a long effort, but I think they’re all gone now.

Quoted @speechboy71

It’s a worthwhile reminder that sometimes the easiest way to win a political fight is to not interrupt your opponent when they are digging a hole

“Please proceed, Governor.”

The Godfather II getting run as part of straight news on MSNBC right now is the Friday we want and the Friday we deserve.

Office Space is basically 20 years old.

On this date in 2007: "And tonight I have the high privilege and distinct honor of my own as the first President to begin the State of the Union message with these words: Madam Speaker."-GWB https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4776044/bush-pelosi-2007 …

This is how far Trump has taken us from normal.

ok .. nerd alert … i listen to ATC from time to time — im an aviation geek — and the precision with which they manage the skies above America is incredibly impressive and intricate. https://twitter.com/MikeDelMoro/status/1088222769811283969 …

I used to love Channel 9 on @united before it disappeared from most planes. The approach/departure and tower controllers in the NY area are insanely good.

I use this quote at work. A lot.

Anyone who swings at reasonable punditry on the shutdown and neglects to mention how and why it actually started — because Trump was called out by Limbaugh and Coulter — is useless. John Fund knows you do not reward that type of behavior. He is useless.
