Indeed my patriot friend Angus, and who wouldn`t, but wise council from his friends and a turncoat Scot changed his mind..Still, these buckles are witness to his victory, 24th June 1314. #Ouch. 🏴
Looking forward to visiting @Devils_Porridge in a week's time. Might be on holiday but I'll have my work's #WW1 hat on no doubt! And only yesterday I found out that my great grandfather worked in a munitions factory before enlisting in 1915 #busmansholiday

Shiny new evidence! "Britain’s largest Neolithic house was ‘built in Scotland’" 🏴 "The largest Neolithic house in Britain was built in Carnoustie, Angus around 6,000 years ago, archaeologists have confirmed." 🏠 More 👉 http://bit.ly/2tA65Z7 (📸/@TheScotsman)
But is it a house? I doubt it.
Our find for #FindsFriday - A #Roman Cavalry Spur found at Old Melrose in the #ScottishBorders. Old Melrose lies close to the site of the Roman fort at #Trimontium (Newstead) which was home to an auxiliary cavalry regiment, the Ala Augusta Vocontiorum.
Looking forward to the @battleftrust Conference on 26-28 April. Great programme and an opportunity for me and @ConflictArchaeo to talk about the work we have been doing at Stow to find the 1646 battlefield there. We judge the battlefield is not located as shown below!

Secret Scotland Episode 3 is one of my favourites! We’re off to Loch Ness and it’s stunning. Here’s a taster of what’s on the show. Friday 8pm @channel5_tv
Keep your eyes peeled for Urquhart Castle in tonight's episode! #SecretScotland
Today is the anniversary of an historic whodunnit. Mind you, there wasn't much mystery surrounding the death of the 8th Earl of Douglas in 1452... King James II & his allies stabbed the Earl when he refused to comply with their demands & threw him out a window at @stirlingcastle.
The #grandopening of @duncarronfort is set to be a momentous weekend full of #history & #culture from all around the world. Join us at this milestone in the @clanranaldtrust story and meet some of the faces from #OutlawKing #Outlander @VisitScotland #greatdaysout #MedievalFort
Yet another right-wing plant in a @bbcquestiontime I'm so sad that the #BBC I was honoured to work for on and off for well nigh a quarter of a century is now acting in this underhand propagandist fashion. Is it too much to hope the new #BBCScotland channel will be better?
For you no medals such as others wear ... more honourable by far than all the Orders is the Cross of Wood
I have a Turkish friend who is going to translate what is on that medallion @CrombieJIM , would be nice to see what it says..Ive passed on the info to Dr. Murray Cook and John Gooder..TTFN Jimmy.
Happy Caristia - The #Romans celebrated the family line with banqueting & gifts on 22nd February. It was a day when family arguments should be set aside and love of family honoured. The fresco shows ancestral sacrifices in the lararium of the house of Julius Polybius in #Pompeii.
@jamesbayne1314 your medallion find James looks very similar to this-----An Ottoman Empire Turkish Imperial Medal Greece War 1897------ A medal issued after the thirty day war fought between the Ottoman Empire & Greece in 1897AD.
I have had lots of mechanical girlfriends in my 70 years as a petrol head, some loved, some adored, they all still live with me @scots_wa_hey .I say "nighty night to them every night..😍
#OTD 1437 King James I🤴was assassinated in a plot orchestrated by his uncle at Blackfriars in Perth. He tried to flee to a sewer but he had ordered it blocked to stop him losing tennis balls in it 🎾. The Queen escaped & brutally executed the perpetrators 👸🗡#ScottishHistory
