I understand being afraid of saying the wrong thing and offending people. But when you 1) educate yourself on how words can harm marginalized people and 2) take your ego out of it and use call outs as a learning experience you don't really have to be afraid of tweeting anymore
Four tweets above this in my feed is a tech bro I avoid at events because he's kind'v an arse and was often loudly chasing booze. His post is him lamenting how afraid he is to tweet because he might offend someone.
On Saturday night, I was not around for a dumpster fire of a mess in tech twitter, but yesterday I ran into both the thread, & some of its fallout. I can't express how disappointed I am in how many straight, white men STILL lack the empathy to understand the privilege they have.
