Ohio's next biennial budget is chock full of education provisions that extend far beyond dollars and cents. Jessica Poiner gives us a great overview of these changes and why they matter. @educationgadfly @MichaelPetrilli @caldis @a_churchill22 https://fordhaminstitute.org/ohio/commentary/education-state-budget-glance …
Good victories here.
Gov. @MikeDeWine & I promised we’d make children, families, fighting addiction, closing the skills gap, & investing in the economy of the future our priorities as Gov/Lt.Gov. We took a big step toward that today. I remain grateful for the opportunity we have to serve. #OHBudget
Very unfortunate. @GovMikeDeWine vetoed much of the #healthcare reform in #OhBudget. While he did issue N Exec Order on #transparency, this will not be enough. This is a missed opportunity, especially considering how big of a budget blowout this was on spending...
Don’t be confused, headlines may talk about #Ohio’s $69 billion budget, but it is actually more than $140 billion. Read about Ohio’s #ShadowBudget and all the different ways policymakers spend your money in this piece by @BuckeyeInstGreg. #OHBudget https://bit.ly/2xhgsmC
Important 4 Ohioans 2 understand the #OhBudget is way, way bigger than press headlines indicate. While a lot of the this is federal $, that is still #taxpayer $ coming out of your pocket. A lot is also from fees, again, $ out of your pocket.
Moments ago, I signed the #OHBudget, which lays the groundwork for a better #Ohio for future generations and makes unprecedented investments in children, families, workers, recovery, education, and more. My team is compiling the final details and will release more info soon.
Call it a BAILOUT or a public subsidy: The leg. to keep FES nukes and two 1955 antique coal plants alive is down to the wire tonight. The Ohio Manufacturers' Assn. & Ohio Consumers' Counsel have asked Gov. DeWine to VETO HB 6: http://www.occ.ohio.gov/sites/default/files/publications/OCC-OMAJointVetoLetterHB6-071719f.pdf …
This is very interesting. Not sure how this will end, though apparently the House did not take up a concurrence on the Senate version 2night & will wait until 8/1.

.@amyhanauer OpEd "Ten truths about the economy, from Ohio" https://www.ohio.com/opinion/20190714/amy-hanauer-ten-truths-about-economy-from-ohio …
These R far from "truths." Most R assertions & R vigorously debated. Higher #taxes, more #regulation & mandates 2 buy more expensive goods & services won't make #Oh a utopia. But do agree w/ @amyhanauer & @PolicyMattersOH on eliminating #taxloopholes & #criminaljustice reform
From @DispatchAlerts- shows why we still have those who want 2 impose harmful #occupationallicensing requirements on people who don't need them & will not help with legit public safety concerns. It is time 2 make sure we have #ZeroBarriers!
While it is tempting to spend #OH’s surplus on new govt programs, the smart investment is to return the surplus to taxpayers ensuring #Ohio’s economy is on a strong footing and continues to grow. #OHBudget. Checkout the facts: https://bit.ly/2LOzcCe
Here is a reminder that deeper #taxcuts help grow the #economy. But such cuts also will help 2 keep the #OhBudget on safer long-term footing by avoiding overspending that may have 2 be cut back in tougher times.
