Australia #drought: « Parched, dusty paddocks as far as the eye can see; farmers relying on increasingly expensive fodder to keep their livestock fed; and rural towns struggling to survive. » https://twitter.com/richardmclellan/status/1152378119317143552 …

From @nytopinion: "Scientists warn that we may be close to a 'tipping point' — a degree of deforestation at which the Amazon basin will no longer be able to generate its own rainfall by recycling moisture and thus cease to support rain forest ecosystems."

The original moon shot inspired billions. Calling action on climate action a moon shot isn't an apt comparison — but maybe we should try it anyway.

Air travel damages the climate. "Top-down policies to reduce flying and support zero-carbon forms of travel, combined with bottom-up personal behavior change and social movements to change the culture of high-polluting mobility, offer a way forward."

Today’s smartphones are 120 million times more powerful than Apollo 11 computers. That’s 50 years of human creativity driven by desire to be connected. There cannot be any reason why humans cannot tackle #climatechange driven by the desire to protect our connected environment.

50 years ago, this was the precise moment that Neil Armstrong put his left foot on the surface of the moon. "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." You’ve never seen the Apollo 11 moon landing like this before: https://nyti.ms/32DUsRl

I had the honour of spending the day with Charles Norman Shay at Omaha Beach. Charles was in the first wave that spearheaded D-Day. He is also Native American and member of the Penobscot tribe of Maine. He’s a hero in a way that is almost impossible to understand. #prixliberte
