S/O to @Emdoskeleton for receiving honorable mention for her AWESOME poster at #AOS19AK! She’s an amazing scientist, lab mate, and friend so she deserves all the hype!

As our time in AK winds down, my lab mates and I are still out finding great birds, which were definitely worth the small portion of the trail where we walked through frigid glacial waters that overtook our trail. #WhatsCoolerThanBeingCool – at Eagle River Nature Center

#AOS19AK was an awesome meeting to attend this last week! Thanks to all the organizers (especially those working hard on inclusion and diversity). I was excited to present some of my own MS thesis research and represent the @BovesLab. AK wasn’t a bad for sights and birds either!

From bird nest searching to a bat netting presentation to mining for pyrite, everyone is having a blast at the first session of the AAS Halberg Ecology Camp’s 40th Year! But, at a place like this, how could you not… https://www.instagram.com/p/ByqZ7ykgPJ2/?igshid=1aowr296rx9e3 …

Always such a pleasure to work at this camp with such awesome kiddos and coworkers! The chiggers may have destroyed my legs this past week, but that didn’t stop me from sharing the wonders of the natural world with these students (which is the best part of science, imo)! #AASEC

One more short morning of work, then I’m back to AR to work at the world’s best summer camp put on each year by @ArAudubon!

From the swamps of Louisiana to the mountains of the Ozarks to the boys of Wisconsin, I’ve been working to re-sight warblers for the past 1.5 months as part of my first field season. Of course it’s been tough, but also rewarding. Here are some highlights!

What an awesome opportunity it was to attend #SPNHC2019 this past week! I got to present research about #FeatherMites, network, and explore Chicago with some amazing friends. Thanks @AstateNhc3, A-State Biology, and @BovesLab for the funding and support for this!

#SPNHC2019 has already been a blast! Enjoying the workshops, @FieldMuseum, and exploring Chicago with great friends!

Because although shaky, blurry, phone-held-up-to-my-binoculars pics are my m.o., it would have been nice to capture these Scarlet Ibises (Ibi? Ibis? What’s the plural of Ibis?) in a more refined image.

A few bird pics from today on our quest to see who has feather mites! Two vireos (Red-eye and White-eye) staring into your soul and two male/female pairs (Indigo Buntings and Prothonotary Warblers).

Time to dust off the "Sex is actually a spectrum, not binary" discussion...so...here goes: #BiologicalSex #SexSpectrum #Testosterone #Estrogen #scicomm #science https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1123535915782234112 …

THIS THREAD! Gender (our expression to society) clearly isn’t as real or as binary as we try to make it, but neither is biological sex. A simplistic world view is toxic; people (biologically and socially) are diverse and beautiful! Thanks, @CheloniaGirl, for advocating this!

Various non-bird critters seen by @Emdoskeleton and I in the Ozarks this weekend while looking for (but not finding) a few of my mitey birds!

Me in the field this past weekend when I almost stepped on a copperhead.

Down in southern Louisiana for my first weekend of field work. Passed through a town called “Butte La Rose” and there was a building/home with a sign saying “Rendezvous ‘In the Butte.’” It’s an amazing world we live in. 👏🏻

Hey, you. Yeah, you! Go follow my advisor’a lab account @BovesLab to see what everyone in my lab is up to! Some common themes will be feather mites, warblers (CERW and PROW in particular), Loggerhead Shrikes, and more!
