“Sunday news show,” once a public service, has largely become a misnomer. These programs have largely become a bin for recycling the same punditry and personalities, no matter whether they are intellectually dishonest and uniformed. They are not meeting the challenge of the time.
Trump is allowed to criticize this country as much as he likes. That is his right as a white man. People of color, he suggests, do not have any such rights. Because they are present at the sufferance of the white majority, they can love it or leave it. https://wapo.st/2LFaKV1
"Lock her up" was peak authoritarianism; countries that lock up whoever dared to run against the autocrat are the kinds we used to send election monitors to. "Send her back" is pure white nationalism; making white citizenship automatic and black & brown citizenship conditional.
As a historian, too, I can say this is right. Getting as many people to vote as possible and letting them know in direct and unsparing language that Trump is an “existential threat” to American democracy, as Tim says, is the only path to victory. https://twitter.com/timjacobwise/status/1152930670093787141 …
This. 2020 is not a fight over healthcare or education or the economy. It’s about our values - who we are as a nation, and who we want to be. Trumpism is the #1 threat to both. @KamalaHarris nailed this in her Oakland rally announcing her candidacy.
I helped write Army interrogator field training after Abu Ghraib. When students proposed solutions like this - holding family to get to someone, it was shut down **immediately.** It's against the law of war, Geneva Conventions, and is a war crime under 18 U.S. Code § 2441. https://twitter.com/cruickshank/status/1151965444917616641 …
Louder for the “impeach over what?” crowd in the back.
The Cubs are among the teams showing interest in Nick Castellanos. They probably want to move Jason Heyward to center, add Castellanos RH bat in right. This one has some teeth.
Sounds good but can the #Cubs can position Almora in the bleachers to swoop in on line drives in the center-right gap?
When I went into the Rohingya camps in Myanmar in 2015, I also talked to people in town who were happy their former neighbors were in camps. Insisting they weren't racist or bigots, many said all they really wanted was for the government to deport the Rohingya to another country.

2020 isn’t the next big election year—it's 2019. This November, we're faced with our best (and last) opportunity to elect a pro-democracy majority in the Virginia General Assembly before the next round of redistricting. Here’s how we’ll #FlipVAblue:
I took my twins to their first baseball game when they were 4 and take them to a couple games a year. My daughter asks me all the time when we’re going to another game (though I think it’s mostly for the cotton candy and ice cream sundaes). Whatever it takes. https://twitter.com/fbwgpodcast/status/1152666504233717763 …
We have a serious problem in this Country when @itsericathomas is subjected to racism in a Cobb County @Publix in front of her daughter. #gapol. #IStandwithErica thank you @RenittaShannon for alerting me and the @NAACPGA. #NoPlaceforHate.
Erica Thomas is a Georgia state representative. Not that it matters. No Black woman should have to suffer this sort of treatment. But she’s literally a public servant. This is heart-breaking.
List of Democratic candidates that raised more money than the Republican Party of Virginia this quarter: Cheryl Turpin Missy Cotter Smasal Jennifer McClellan Ghazala Hashmi Amanda Pohl Debra Rodman John Bell Amy Laufer Jennifer Boysko Dick Saslaw Jennifer Carroll Foy
Proud to be working with so many of these amazing candidates and helping them to raise lots of 💰 to reach voters. In 2017, party control of the House of Delegates came down to a tie race that was decided by a random drawing. This November, we will finish the job and #FlipVABlue
